Sir John Parker is Chairman of Anglo American plc, Chairman of the Water and Energy Recovery Group Pennon plc (July 2015) and Non-Executive Director of Carnival Corporation (2003) and Airbus Group (2007).

He is currently Chairing the review for Government on Ethnic Diversity on Boards and the UK Naval Shipbuilding Strategy for MOD.

He was Vice Chairman of DP World (Dubai) (2006-2015),  President of the Royal Academy of Engineering (2011- 2014), and a Member of the Prime Minister’s Committee of Science & Technology (CST)\(2011-2014) and a Member of Davies Committee – Women on Boards.

He was recently Chairman of National Grid plc (2002 to 2011) and Chair of  the  Court of the Bank of England (2004-2009), Joint Chairman of Mondi plc (2007-2009), Chair of the BAe – Vosper Shipbuilding Joint Venture (2008-9), a Member of the Prime Minister’s Business Council for Britain (2007-2010) and Chancellor of University of Southampton (2006 – 2011).

Sir John has also been Non-executive Director of the Industrial Development Board of Northern Ireland (1983-1986), British Coal Corporation (1986-1993), GKN plc (1993-2002), BG plc (1997-2000) and Brambles Industries plc (2001-2003). He was Chairman of Firth Rixson plc 1999-2003 and Non-executive Director and subsequently Deputy Chairman of P&O Princess Cruises plc (2000-2003).  He was Chairman RMC Group from 2002 and led the Group’s transformation and agreed sale to Cemex of Mexico in 2005.  He was appointed Chairman of P&O in 2005 and led the Groups agreed sale to DP World (Dubai) in 2006.

Sir John was elected a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering (1983), a Fellow of the Irish Academy of Engineering (2001) and an Elder Brother of Trinity House (2010), President of Smeatonian Society of Civil Engineers (2010), a Visiting Fellow of University of Oxford, a member of the General Committee of Lloyds Register of  Shipping and Vice President of The Royal Navy and Marines Charity, a governor of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution and a Member of the White Ensign Association.   He is a recipient of honorary doctorates from a number of universities in the UK and Ireland.  He was President of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (1996-1999), Prime Warden of the Worshipful Company of Shipwrights (2000-2001) and an Honorary Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Fuellers and the Tallow Chandlers Livery Company.  He lead the ‘Young Offenders into Work’ program from 2000-2011.  He has served on the Defence Academy Advisory Board, was a Member of the Government’s Asia Task Force and was Deputy Chairman of the White Ensign Association (2008/9).  He was knighted in 2001 for Services to the Defence and Shipbuilding Industries and was appointed GBE in 2012 for Services to Industry and the Voluntary Sectors.  Sir John’s recreational pursuits include reading, music and sailing (Member of the Royal Yacht Squadron).

Tony Hayward is Chairman of Glencore plc and Chairman and Founder of Genel Energy plc. He was Group Chief Executive of BP from 2007 -2010 having previously served as Group Treasurer and Chief Executive of Exploration and Production.

He studied geology at Aston University in Birmingham and completed a PhD at Edinburgh University. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh and holds honorary doctorates from the University of Edinburgh, Aston University, the University of Birmingham and Aberdeen’s Robert Gordon University.

He is a member of the British Museum Chairman’s Advisory Board and a member of the Development Advisory Board of the Royal Academy of Engineering.  He is Chairman of Aston University's Development Board and a visiting professor at the School of Geosciences at the University of Edinburgh.

Former White House Coordinator for the Middle East

Dr Philip Gordon was Special Assistant to the President and White House Coordinator for the Middle East, North Africa and the Gulf Region from 2013-15.  As the most senior White House official focused on the greater Middle East, he chaired numerous interagency committees and worked closely with the President, Secretary of State and National Security Adviser on the full range of geopolitical, economic and security issues facing the region.  From 2009-13, Dr Gordon served as Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs under Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. In that position he was responsible for 50 countries in Europe and Eurasia as well as for NATO and the European Union (EU). He is currently a Senior Advisor at the Albright Stonebridge Group and a Senior Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, both in Washington, DC.  Dr Gordon is the author of a number of books and articles on international relations and foreign policy and writes regularly for newspapers including the New York Times, Washington Post, Financial Times and Politico. He is proficient in French, Italian and German, and reads Spanish.

Marco Alverà has been Chief Executive Officer of Snam since April 2016. Previously he was Chief Operating Officer from January to April 2016.

Since April 2016 he is also Chairman of the Board of Snam Rete Gas, a Snam's subsidiary company that operates in natural gas transportation and dispatching.

With a degree in Philosophy and Economics from the London School of Economics, Marco Alverà began his career in London working in Private Equity and M&A. In 2000 he founded Netesi, Italy’s first broadband ADSL company.

In 2002, he joined Enel as Director of Group Corporate Strategy and member of the management committee, contributing significantly to the development of the company's gas strategy and participating in the listing of Terna.

In 2004 he became Chief Financial Officer of Wind Telecom and oversaw the sale of Wind to Orascom.

In 2005, he joined Eni as Director of Supply & Portfolio Development at the Gas & Power Division, successfully managing the outcomes of the gas crisis between Russia and Ukraine in the Winter of 2006, and taking part in the negotiation of the international agreement on gas supplies.

In that role, he also oversaw the acquisition of Belgium’s Distrigas in the delicate unbundling process from Fluxys. During the same period, he was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Bluestream and Promgas and was in charge of the development of new routes for natural gas towards Europe from the Caspian area, Iran, the Middle East and Africa.

In 2008 he moved to Eni’s Exploration & Production Division as Executive Vice President for Russia, North Europe, and North and South America. In these countries, he managed operations and led negotiations with governments and other international oil companies.

In 2010 he was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Eni Trading and Shipping, which manages all commodity Trading and Shipping activities for the company, and in 2012 he became Senior Executive Vice President Optimisation and Trading. In 2013, he took on responsibility for the business unit Midstream, which consolidates the results of Eni’s Gas & Power Division and brings together all of the supply, logistics and trading activities of the energy commodities. From July to September 2015 he was the Chief Retail Market Gas & Power Officer.

Since December 2016 he has been a member of the General Council of the Giorgio Cini Foundation in Venice, promoting culture and arts and hosting several high-profile initiatives on international relations.

He has been a board member of Gazprom Neft, the Performance Theatre, the Global Leadership and Technology Exchange, and Eni Foundation. He was also the Operating Vice President of EUROGAS, the European association that brings together the leading international operators in the natural gas sector, and founding member of the ginger group, which promotes natural gas in Europe, together with Shell, BG, Total and Statoil.

Anil Agarwal founded the Vedanta Group in 1979 and is the Executive Chairman of Vedanta Resources Plc, a London-listed company which has grown annual revenues from $1bn to over $10bn in the past decade. In the last 10 years the group has invested over $20bn in India on organic growth projects. Mr Agarwal has over 40 years of entrepreneurial and business experience. He shaped the Group’s strategic vision and now plays the role of chief mentor to a talent pool of over 88,000 direct and indirect employees. Under his leadership, the Group has achieved growth both organically and through value-generating mergers and acquisitions, creating a world-class diversified portfolio of large structurally low-cost assets generating strong cash flow. He places considerable focus on sustainable development for the benefit of the communities in the locations of Vedanta’s operations. Devry Boughner Vorwerk serves as Corporate Vice President for Global Corporate Affairs, overseeing the company’s global branding, communications, corporate responsibility and government relations efforts.

Spanning a tenure of nearly 12 years, Ms Vorwerk led Cargill’s global government relations activities in Washington and Corporate Affairs for Latin America, which included management and oversight of government relations, communications and corporate responsibility across the region; and, separately, served as Director of Cargill’s International Business Relations, specialised in its Asia Pacific trade and investment portfolio, which included short assignments living in India and China.

In early 2016, she left Cargill to join Akin Gump’s public law and policy practice as a Senior Policy Advisor, where she focused on trade and investment policy and agriculture policy. In this role, she worked closely with the firm’s international trade policy and Cuba policy practices, among others, assisting clients who have international business dealings in, or who are considering expansion into, the Latin American and Asian markets.

Prior to joining Cargill, Ms Vorwerk worked at the U.S. International Trade Commission in the Office of Industries and as Economic Advisor to the Chairman. She also served as Senior Economist in Agricultural Affairs at the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, which is part of the Executive Office of the President.

Ms Vorwerk holds a dual degree in Agricultural Economics and Managerial Economics from the University of California, Davis. She also holds a Master of Science in Agricultural Economics, with a specialisation in Public Policy and International Trade, from Cornell University.

Ms Vorwerk is Chair of the U.S. Agriculture Coalition for Cuba and formerly co-chair of the U.S. Business Coalition for the Transpacific Partnership. She is a founding member of IMPACT FFA, a career development program for young women in agriculture, and serves on the Advisory Board of the University of California Agricultural Issues Center and Cornell University’s Dyson School Advisory Council. In 2014, she was named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum and is an Arthur Page Society Future Leader.

Carl Casale

Carl Casale is president and chief executive officer of CHS, a leading energy, grains and foods company and the largest member-owned cooperative in the United States.

Mr Casale joined CHS in January 2011, after more than 26 years in leadership roles at agriculture businesses, including time as executive vice president and chief financial officer at Monsanto.

Since joining CHS, Mr Casale has helped drive the company to record profitability and growth on behalf of the cooperative’s more than 600,000 farmer-owners. As the leader of a global, Fortune 100 company with more than 12,500 employees, Mr Casale has worked to strengthen the company and grow opportunities for owners, as well as its energy, grains and food customers.

In addition to his role as chief executive officer at CHS, Mr Casale operates a family-owned blueberry farm, offering unique insights from both the farm gate and the board room to advance the vision of the company.

Mr Casale currently serves as director on the boards of the Ventura Foods, LLC; Ecolab Inc.; the Minnesota Business Partnership, the Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research and will serve as the 2017 National Council of Farmer Cooperatives president.

Mr Casale holds a bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics from Oregon State University and an executive Master of Business Administration from Washington University, St. Louis, Mo.

George   Cheveley

George Cheveley is a portfolio manager and metals and mining specialist in the Commodities & Resources team at Investec Asset Management having joined the firm in 2007.

Prior to this, he was a market analyst for three years at BHP Billiton, working in The Hague and Singapore. He was recruited to BHP Billiton in 2004 from CRU (Commodities Research Unit), an independent metals/chemicals related research company based in London. At CRU, he spent three years in the Carbon Steel team and five years as a Research Manager – Copper, providing in-depth research and forecasts to the industry, banks and hedge funds. Mr Cheveley began his career in 1990 in operations at British Steel Strip Products, working for three years in the Tinplate division.

Mr Cheveley graduated from the University of Oxford in 1989 with an honours degree in Classics and in 1995 was awarded an MBA from Warwick University.

Mark Crandall

Mark Crandall co-founded Morgan Stanley’s energy business in the early 1980s. In 1993 he became one of the founding partners in Trafigura, an energy trading company which grew during his time to €25bn in sales and 1,000 employees in 58 offices worldwide. In his last several years at Trafigura, he was responsible for electricity trading across Europe, which fired his interest in renewable generation technologies and deepened his understanding of the fundamentals of the power markets in Europe and globally. Through his investment vehicle Postscriptum he started Continental Wind Partners in 2005, which went on to build the largest onshore wind farm in Europe, as well as wind farms in Australia and Serbia, and this business is continuing and now includes solar as well as wind. Postscriptum has also made investments in other sectors of the renewable area, in particular solar hybrid solutions for distributed generation.

Alistair Cross is the Global Head of Operations for Mercuria Energy Trading, one of the largest integrated energy and commodity trading companies in the world. Mr Cross is responsible for the firm’s worldwide operations across all commodities trading and geographies. This includes Mercuria’s diversified business across a wide spectrum of commodity products, such as physical oil and energy products, from business hubs in Geneva, Singapore, Shanghai and Houston. The operational functions are closely aligned with customers, commodity producers and service providers. Mr Cross has also played an integral role in Mercuria’s innovative blockchain test to carry out a live oil trade with partners ING, Société Générale and ChemChina. Previously, Mr Cross spent time at Goldman Sachs.

Marco Dunand is Chairman and Group Chief Executive for Mercuria Energy Group, one of the five largest independent energy and commodity groups. The Group’s activities span more than 50 countries, and employ over 1,000 people that operate from 38 offices worldwide. Previous to this, Mr Dunand successfully spearheaded the launch of Sempra Energy in Europe and Asia. He left the company in 2004 to found Mercuria together with Daniel Jaeggi. From 1994 to 1999 he was appointed Managing Director of the European and Asian operations at Phibro, Salomon Brothers in London. Mr Dunand previously joined the J.Aron division at Goldman Sachs, based in London, where he was Managing Director of the European crude oil business. At the beginning of his trading career, he worked with Cargill International SA. Mr Dunand graduated from the University of Geneva, where he earned a degree in Economics and Management.

James Foster has worked in supply and trading roles in BP for the last 25 years. During this time he traded Middle Distillates in both London and Chicago, helping to set up BP’s trading activity in the US following the Amoco merger before moving on to trading management roles. These have included Head of Trading for Europe and Africa, and Global Commodity Head for Middle Distillates, setting up the original global commodity book structure. He is currently responsible for the supervision of the European crude trading activity as well as facilitating cross commodity trading and being actively involved in managing BP’s response to the changing regulatory environment.

Mr Foster holds a M.Eng degree in Chemical Engineering from Cambridge University.

As Executive Chairman of the GFG Alliance, he leads a fast-growing $9bn global industrial group, headquartered in London, with additional global hubs in Dubai, Singapore and Hong Kong, and further presence across 30 countries. Through a strategy that defies perceptions of steel and engineering as dying industries, he recently acquired and successfully relaunched over 25 businesses, saving nearly 5,000 jobs, whilst also working and investing in his GREENSTEEL plan to rejuvenate manufacturing.

Evy Hambro, Managing Director, is the Chief Investment Officer of the Natural Resources Equity team within BlackRock's Alpha Strategies and the Global Head of Commodities for BlackRock. Mr Hambro sits on the BlackRock Global Operating Committee and is a member of the Alpha Strategies Partner Group. He is responsible for the management of the BGF World Mining and BGF World Gold Funds. He is also manager of the BlackRock Gold and General Fund and the BlackRock World Mining Trust. Evy is co-manager of the BlackRock Natural Resources Hedge Fund and manager of a number of segregated portfolios.

Mr Hambro's service with the firm dates back to 1994 including his years with Mercury Asset Management and Merrill Lynch Investment Managers (MLIM) which merged with BlackRock in 2006. He has worked for the firm in London, Sydney and Toronto.

Mr Hambro earned a BSc degree, with honors, in Agricultural Food Marketing, from Newcastle University in 1994.

Russell Hardy

Russell Hardy is CEO EMEA, Vitol and has been a member of the Executive Committee since 2007. His responsibilities include the coordination of the group’s regional trading activity. He is also a board member of Varo Energy, a European downstream business established by Vitol in 2012 and in which it retains a significant interest, and Chairman of VPI, Vitol’s large scale CCGT/CHP investment in the UK power industry.

Russell joined Vitol in 1993 after 5 years in refining and products trading at BP. He holds a MEng in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College, London.

Alan  Haywood

Since January 2017, Alan Haywood has been Chief Executive Officer for BP’s Integrated Supply & Trading business. He serves on a number of Group company boards.

The supply and trading activities are the commercial face of BP, working closely with the Upstream and Downstream businesses. IST enhances BP’s value through the application of distinctive supply, trading, risk management and information technology skills – underpinned by a world-class control infrastructure.

Mr Haywood joined BP in London in 1988 and has held a wide variety of leadership roles in the Trading business in Europe and the US over more than 25 years. He has also worked in Merrill Lynch and Bankers Trust in 1992-1997, trading oil and precious metal financial derivatives.

After being Head of the Group CFO’s Executive Office in 2005-7, Alan became Head of Supply and Trading for BP’s European Oil business, managing trading and supply for Oil as well as global currency trading and interest rate management.

In April 2010, he was appointed Chief Operating Officer Global Gas. In this role, he was responsible for sales of all gas produced by BP and for procuring all gas for BP’s marketing businesses, including LNG.

From 2011-14, Mr Haywood was President of Downstream Gas and Head of Commercial Development, with responsibility for the monetisation of gas and the development of strategy and long-term commercial ventures across the supply and trading portfolio.

In November 2014, Alan Haywood took the role of Group Treasurer for BP plc. He was responsible for the central financing of the BP Group, providing liquidity to its businesses and optimising value through the management of financial risks at the group level.

Mr Haywood holds a degree in Modern History from the University of Oxford.

Geoff Healy joined BHP Billiton as Chief Legal Counsel in June 2013. In March 2016, he assumed the role of Chief External Affairs Officer, with global accountability for Functions dealing with all of the Group’s non-financial risks. In addition to Legal, these include teams responsible for external affairs, compliance, health and safety, the environment, internal audit and risk. Mr Healy regularly represents BHP Billiton at external public speaking events and represents BHP Billiton at global senior level government engagements.

Philipp Hildebrand, Vice Chairman, is a member of the firm’s Global Executive Committee. He leads and oversees the activities of the BlackRock Investment Institute, which connects BlackRock’s portfolio managers to one another, generates investment insights and disseminates them to clients.

Mr Hildebrand joined BlackRock in October 2012 and previously served as Chairman of the firm’s Multi-Asset Strategies business. Before coming to BlackRock, he served as Chairman of the Governing Board of the Swiss National Bank (SNB) until January 2012. In that capacity, he was also a Director of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), the Swiss Governor of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and a member of the Financial Stability Board (FSB), of which the Leaders of the G20 appointed him Vice Chairman, in November 2011.

Previously, Mr Hildebrand served as Chief Investment Officer of a Swiss private bank and as a partner of Moore Capital Management in London. Between 2006 and 2009, he served as a member of the Strategic Committee of the French Debt Management Office.

Mr Hildebrand is a member of the Group of Thirty, an Honorary Fellow of Lincoln College, Oxford and he sits on the International Advisory Board of Oxford University’s Blavatnik School of Government.

Mr Hildebrand earned a BA from the University of Toronto, an MA from the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva and a DPhil from the University of Oxford.

Daniel F Hines is Chief Financial Officer at Castleton Commodities International (CCI). Prior to joining CCI, Mr Hines worked at. J.P. Morgan since 1989, where he held a variety of senior level finance positions within the investment bank. From 2007 to 2011, he was Chief Financial Officer and Head of Business Management for J.P. Morgan’s global commodities business where he played a key role in the expansion of the commodities franchise. He received his BS in accounting from St. John’s University and is a certified public accountant.

Jean-Sébastien Jacques was appointed Rio Tinto chief executive in July 2016. He is also a director on the Rio Tinto board.

Mr Jacques was born in France in 1971. He joined Rio Tinto in October 2011 as the president, International Operations for the Copper group, where he led a senior team and managed interests in the Palabora Mining Company in South Africa, Northparkes Mines in Australia, Kennecott Eagle Minerals in Michigan, Pebble Mine in Alaska and Sulawesi in Indonesia.

Mr Jacques was appointed to Rio Tinto’s Executive Committee in February 2013 when he was made chief executive of the Copper group. In February 2015 he also assumed responsibility for the company’s coal assets in his expanded role as chief executive of Copper & Coal, leading a business with nine international operations and two growth projects. Mr Jacques led the transformation of the Copper & Coal group, delivering a step- change in both safety and cash performance whilst re-shaping the portfolio to focus on a core of the highest quality assets. He also had responsibility for two growth projects, Oyu Tolgoi in Mongolia and Resolution in the USA, both of which saw significant progress during his tenure in that role.

Some of the key achievements under Mr Jacques’ leadership of the Copper & Coal group were the delivery of the first shipment from the Oyu Tolgoi mine in Mongolia, divestment of the Palabora, Northparkes, Eagle and Bengalla mines and the withdrawal from the Pebble project in the USA.

The signing of the Oyu Tolgoi Underground Mine Development and Financing Plan in May 2015 which paved the way for the further development of the Oyu Tolgoi mine is testament to Mr Jacques’ commitment to establishing and maintaining strong external relationships. His leadership in negotiations with the Government of Mongolia demonstrated a commitment to finding solutions that deliver long-term benefits for all parties. In addition to providing country leadership for Rio Tinto in Mongolia, Mr Jacques had responsibility for leading the company’s engagement in Indonesia, Chile, PNG and Peru.

He is also highly respected for his thought leadership across a wide range of geopolitical and economic issues within the mining industry and more broadly. Mr Jacques has been chairman of the International Copper Association since late 2014.

Prior to joining Rio Tinto, Mr Jacques spent more than 15 years working in various roles across Europe, South East Asia, India and the US. He covered a wide range of operational and functional positions for the aluminium, bauxite and steel industries and more significantly, served as group director, Strategy for Tata Steel Group from 2007 to 2011.

Mr Jacques lives in London with his family and holds a Master of Science from École Centrale Paris.

Mr Karimov was the company’s Department Director for Supply, Planning & Logistics between 2013 and 2014.

Prior to joining Rosneft, he worked at TNK-BP, the world’s seventh largest private oil and gas company, with revenues of $60bn. He was head of the company’s supply, logistics & tolling division between 2010 and 2013, where he was in charge of optimising company-wide production and refining of crude and products, logistics and trade.  Mr Karimov’s first role at the company was Director of the Business Development and Strategy department, Downstream. There he was in charge of strategy and business development projects at the company, and provided analytical support for all downstream projects.

Between 2008 and 2005, Mr Karimov worked at ConocoPhillips on their Leadership Development Programme in London.  He holds an MBA from INSEAD Business School and a Masters in Economics and BSBA in Management (with minor in Finance) / BA in Economics, both from Washington University in St Louis.

During the past 20 years, Ms Klein has worked in many areas of IFC and rose through the ranks, including serving for two years as the Chief of Staff to IFC’s former CEO Lars Thunell. She headed IFC’s business growth in Eastern Europe in the early 2000s, led work in several industry sectors across IFC, and originated the Food Fund, which created the base of blended finance and impact investment for IFC. Ms Klein joined IFC from the Export Development Corporation in Canada and the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC). Michael Muller joined Shell 28 years ago after graduating from Cambridge University.  He has served on the Global Leadership Team of Shell’s trading division since 1999.  Better known to colleagues as Mike, he is the VP of Crude Trading, managing a business that trades more than eight million barrels of physical crude per day.  In this role, he oversees a global team of trading, supply and risk management professionals spread across 10 offices including major oil trading hubs such as Houston and London.  In prior roles he managed the Atlantic Basin Crude Oil Trading and Supply business, Shell’s North Sea, Futures, Swaps and Options Trading business and led Shell’s Global Chemical Feedstock Trading Business.  In the 1990s he managed Shell’s Trading and Supply team in Melbourne and was then posted to Singapore to establish a cross-business development presence in South East Asia. Mr Muller is based in London. He is married and has a daughter.

Ms Slach has always been building bridges between the Commercial, Operational, Finance, Risk and IT units of the bank. He was responsible for defining, implementing and monitoring the full scope of the Sempra Energy credit and financial strategies, from trading business requirements to banking, finance and risk management responsibilities to support the oil and energy division’s expansion.

Prior to that, Mr Vermersch spent 11 years in the energy, metals and mining commodities and structured finance departments of ING/BBL Bank and CIB in Geneva and Paris. Mr Vermersch started his career with Arthur Andersen in Paris. An Australian national, he joined the Trafigura Group in 2001 as head of metals derivatives, structured products and risk management. Immediately prior to his current appointment he served as a Management Board Director, Head of Risk and CEO of Galena Asset Management and Trafigura Mining Group. Before Trafigura, Mr Weir spent nearly nine years with N M Rothschild between 1992 and 2000.

In Australia he set up the group’s non-ferrous metals derivatives business and developed structured products alongside its resource banking activities before relocating to London and joining the main board. There his responsibilities encompassed worldwide metal trading activities and structured finance business, and he was also a member of the group’s treasury and banking executive management team.

Mr Weir has also worked at Pasminco Metals and North Ltd. Born in Melbourne in 1964, he holds a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Geology from the University of Melbourne.

Prior to joining Spencer Stuart, Ms Westland was the global manager of the big data and advanced analytics business of The Boston Consulting Group. During her tenure, she helped more than 200 clients across industries and around the world establish and refine their data agenda.

Ms Westland has been an advisory board member of the business analytics master’s degree program at Imperial College Business School since 2014. Julia has published several articles and studies on tech and data, and presented at leading tech events such as London FinTech Week.

Previously, Ms Westland spent six years in Accenture’s IT strategy practice, where she created operating models, mobilised change programs and streamlined technology in order to connect IT and business strategy for retail, telecommunications, banking and government organisations.

Ms Westland began her career in the quantitative strategies, risk and analytics department of The World Bank, where she worked with a range of international organisations and countries. She holds a Master of Science in information systems technology and a Bachelor of Business Administration in international business and information systems from The George Washington University. Ms Westland was a Fulbright scholar to Morocco in 2004.

John Whittaker specialises in trading disputes, international economic sanctions and advisory work in relation to a wide range of international trading issues including anti-bribery, corruption, anti-money laundering and compliance. Having worked in this area for over 15 years, he regularly leads internal corporate investigations which arise where potential violations have occurred or where violations are alleged. He also acts for and against Governments in relation to contractual issues, investment disputes and sovereign immunity.

Mr Whittaker has handled cases before Courts in the UK and abroad, including a number of cases in Eastern Europe and the Far East where he has extensive experience, having spent part of his career there. Neil Hume is the Commodities and Mining Editor of the Financial Times, a role he has held since September 2013. He covers the global trade of natural resources, such as iron ore, coal, copper and wheat as well as the political, social and economic aspects of the commodities industry and trading houses. Mr Hume joined the FT as senior stock markets correspondent in 2006. He also helped found FT Alphaville, the FT’s award-winning markets blog. He became editor of Alphaville in 2010 before being appointed the FT’s Australia correspondent in 2012. In addition to editing Alphaville, Mr Hume has written a weekly column for the FT and won best scoop article at the M&A International Media Awards in 2008 for his story on InBev’s takeover of Budweiser. Martin Wolf is Chief Economics Commentator and an Associate Editor at the Financial Times. He was awarded the CBE (Commander of the British Empire) in 2000 “for services to financial journalism”. He was a member of the UK government’s Independent Commission on Banking between June 2010 and September 2011. His book The Shifts and the Shocks: What We’ve Learned—and Have Still to Learn—from the Financial Crisis was published by Penguin in 2014.


Mr Wolf is an honorary fellow of Nuffield College, Oxford University, Corpus Christi College, Oxford University and King’s College, London. In 2014, he was made a University Global Fellow of Columbia University, New York and a Senior Fellow in Global Economic Policy at its School of International Public Affairs. He is a member of the International Media Council of the World Economic Forum.


Mr Wolf was joint winner of the Wincott Foundation senior prize for excellence in financial journalism for 1989 and again for 1997. He won the RTZ David Watt memorial prize for 1994 and the “Commentator of the Year” award at the Business Journalist of the Year Awards of 2008. He was placed 15th in Foreign Policy’s list of the “Top 100 Global Thinkers” in December 2009 and the “Ludwig Erhard Prize for economic commentary” for 2009. He won “Commentariat of the Year 2009” at the Comment Awards, the 33rd Ischia International Journalism Prize in 2012 and the Overseas Press Club of America’s prize for “best commentary on international news in any medium” for 2013.


Mr Wolf is also the author of Why Globalization Works (Yale University Press, 2004) and Fixing Global Finance (Washington D.C: Johns Hopkins University Press, and London: Yale University Press, 2008 and 2010). China Business News named Fixing Global Finance its “Financial Book of the Year” for 2009.

Mr Wolf was educated at Oxford University.
