Gender equality is a critical pillar of a healthy society and economy. And a growing body of evidence suggests that empowering women is critical to boosting global prosperity. Yet for decades insufficient attention and funding has been directed towards women’s rights, women’s economic empowerment and gender equality in business, government and broader society. While in recent years, stakeholders from philanthropists to policy makers have been pushing for equality between women and men, the recognition that equality is also good for business and the economy has prompted another constituent to join the movement: investors.
