    Full Overview

Indonesia’s financial system is growing in scale, complexity and interconnectedness, increasing both its contribution to economic growth and the importance of maintaining public confidence. As markets develop, the institutions responsible for protecting depositors and policyholders, managing financial distress and supporting orderly resolution will play an increasingly important role in preserving financial stability.

Lembaga Penjamin Simpanan (LPS) is a key pillar of Indonesia’s financial safety net. Through deposit insurance and bank resolution, LPS helps maintain public confidence and market discipline when financial institutions come under pressure. As Indonesia’s financial system continues to evolve, the effectiveness of the safety net will increasingly depend on strong coordination among LPS, financial authorities and industry, as well as the ability of institutions to anticipate and prepare for emerging risks.

This high-level Financial Times conference, held in partnership with LPS, will bring together policymakers, regulators and financial-sector leaders to examine how Indonesia’s financial safety net should evolve alongside its economy and financial markets. Discussions will explore the changing role of safety-net institutions, lessons from recent financial stress and international experience, the importance of recovery and resolution preparedness, and how the financial system can respond to risks arising from greater digitalisation and interconnectedness.
