International Energy Policy Summit 2026

Europe’s path to energy security, industrial competitiveness and technological leadership
Energy security has moved to the heart of Europe’s economic and strategic agenda. Geopolitical instability, dependence on imported fuels and intensifying global competition have exposed the risks of an energy system that leaves European industry vulnerable to external shocks and structurally high costs. At the same time, the race for advanced manufacturing, clean technologies, AI and computing capacity is making access to abundant, reliable and competitively priced power an increasingly important determinant of investment and industrial competitiveness.
The Financial Times, in partnership with Iberdrola, will convene policymakers, industry leaders and experts in Brussels to examine how Europe can build a more secure and resilient energy system — and how electrification can strengthen industrial competitiveness, reduce external dependencies and support Europe’s ambitions in an increasingly technology-driven global economy.

How can Europe use electrification to reduce dependence on imported fossil fuels while powering industrial growth, advanced manufacturing and digital infrastructure?
Financing an AI-Ready Energy System
What will it take to unlock investment in clean power, grids, storage and flexibility — and build an electricity system capable of supporting Europe’s industrial and AI ambitions?
